The main performance of electric power oil is usually divided into physical, chemical and electrical properties.
(1) physical properties. The general physical performance items are: appearance color, transparency, density (specific gravity), viscosity, flash point, condensation point, dip, interfacial tension, aniline point, specific dispersion, ash, etc. The main factors affecting the physical properties of oil are related to the composition and structure of crude oil and the temperature of cut fractions. If the wax content of crude oil is high, it is difficult to produce oil with low solidifying point. If the temperature of cutting fraction is high, the density and viscosity of oil will be large and flash point is high. In addition, oil is a complex mixture of many different liquid hydrocarbons, so its physical properties are not constant, but vary with the various hydrocarbons they contain.
(2) chemical properties. The chemical properties of oil are water soluble acid base, acid value, water, active sulfur, caustic sodium test, liquid corrosion, anti foam, air release value, oxidation stability, emulsification time and so on.

The gas evolution of oil is related to its chemical composition. In general, the same base oil has higher aromatic hydrocarbon content and better gas evolution performance.
