The influence of transformer oil filter on the ash content of oil

The amount of oil ash content is the best unit index for testing the cleanliness of oil after filter oil filter. After burning, the remaining noncombustible material, called ash, is expressed as a percentage. Such noncombustible substances are minerals in oil products, mainly formed by calcium salts, magnesium salts and sodium salts of naphthenic acids. The main components of ash are the compounds of the following components, namely, Xinjiang, silicon, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, manganese and so on. Some crude oil also found vanadium and phosphorus and so on. The color of oil ash is determined by the compounds that make up ash, usually white, light yellow or red, and the ash in the oil is usually very small, for example, 0.005% of the new steam turbine oil in the power system. The sources of ash in oil products are as follows:

(1) the ash formed in new oil mainly comes from crude oil, and some from the processing of oil products, such as residual acids, alkali salts and clay.
(2) during refining, storage and transportation of oil, metal oxides, such as rust, can be mixed by metal salts formed by the corrosion surface of the equipment or contaminated by containers.
(3) the oil in operation, which constitutes ash, is mainly aged products or corrosion products. If oil is mixed or dissolved, the ash content can also be increased.

The main functions of transformer oil are as follows:

(1) insulation: transformer oil has much higher insulation strength than air. Insulating materials immersed in oil can not only enhance the insulation strength, but also avoid the erosion of moisture.
(2) heat dissipation: the specific heat of transformer oil is large and is often used as coolant. The heat generated by the operation of the transformer increases the heat expansion of the oil near the core and the winding. Through the convection of the oil, the heat is dispersed through the radiator to ensure the normal operation of the transformer.
(3) arc suppression: arc will be generated when the contact is switched on the circuit breaker of the oil circuit breaker and the transformer. Due to the good thermal conductivity of the transformer oil and the high temperature of the arc, the transformer can touch a lot of gas and produce large pressure, thus the arc extinguishing performance of the medium is improved and the arc is quickly extinguished.
